 | 05:36 pm - Done... I can't believe it. Finally done moving! I had to go to the old house yesterday for any last minute stuff that needed to be taken care of. Turned in the keys and drove away....
In the afternoon, I had a lovely mammogram and then my daughter and her bridesmaids came over for their fitting and adjustments. My mom sewed the dresses in Tennessee and sent them to Lia a few days ago.

They also worked on the party favors:

Remember the koi stamp I made just before my surgery? Tah-dah! ; ) Anyway, it's an origami lotus filled with candy wrapped in cellophane. I think they came out wonderful! Here's a shot of the supplies:

I also got to see my daughter in her dress. She looks lovely... sniff... See the big tat on her back? The dress is just low enough in back to show it in all it's glory. No criticism, just saying... Current Mood: still tired

 | 10:46 pm - Re: Moth I forgot to say that this guy is about 4" long! That's huge to me!
|
 | 10:36 pm - Almost done Hopefully, we'll be moved and settled by this weekend. We did take our friend's house after all. She was cool enough to work with us on the deposit. I think everyone is happy here. It fits us.
Sooo much has been going on, but I don't have the time or the inclination to get into it. Suffice to say that moving is a royal pain...
I was cruising it with hubby here at home, when Alex (my son) walked in and nearly screamed! He said there was a giant moth outside on the window screen. I looked at where he pointed and jumped! Yeah, there was!

He's just kicking back on the screen like nobody's business. My daughter, U'i, even touched and petted him, but all he did was open his wings. I took some pictures of him (like I know the sex of the thing... sigh) and check this one out:

The red eye is the monster kicker for me...!
Tomorrow, Danny took the day off and I have the day off, so we're gonna go to the old house and try to finish moving the last stuff (which is mostly my art supplies). He wants to have a garage sale... yeah, right. Don't need that headache right now. I just want to finish and clean and walk away from the house for good. I'm so exhausted from all this... | 12:53 pm - O, you're gonna love this! Hubby and I were a bit hesitant about renting our friend's house ($1250 a month!), so we looked around. On Monday, a house down the street from us went up for rent at $925! We thought we would take a chance and apply and we were actually accepted! Due to the pre-foreclosure on our credit report, we were told we had to pay a higher deposit ($600+). Well, that had to wait until the end of the month.
Well, just by chance, hubby was talking to our nosy-neighbor (I don't mean that in a bad way!) and she told us that said house was also in foreclosure. There are FIVE homes in foreclosure on our street alone! Come to find out, the owner wanted to rent the house out and make as much money as possible before the bank took it back. We would've been all settled in house, thinking we can rebuild our credit, and a sheriff come walking up to tell us we have 3 or 30 days to get the *bleep* out 'cuz we're squatting...! How scary is that?
Sad thing is, we were going through a property management company. So, hubby called them the same day and asked them did they know the house was in foreclosure. Very sad when the company is in on the scheme, yeah? The lady tried to play dumb and told him she would look into it and call back, but guess what? Silence for two days now... lol...
We talked to our friend last night, signed the papers and will be starting our move tomorrow... whew! Thankfully, she'll work with us on the deposit. She just needed someone to take over the rent as soon as possible.
It has been a very dry month, art-wise, for me. I haven't drawn, sewn, glued, painted, carved or anything! Hopefully, when the move is over and done with, I'll get my act together. My art withdrawals are starting to get to me... Current Mood: irritated

 | 01:14 pm - wow... ; ) Well, that was easy! I think we found a house! Hubby spoke to one of our friends (she's into real estate) and she just happened to have a place she wanted to rent! She's the owner too. I think it's a bit high for rent, but the house is cute and fits us. She's willing to let us split the payment for the deposit too! Whew!
She also rents the 15th to the 15th, so next week we'll be able to move in! That makes it much easier on us. It'll give us an easier time to empty and clean this house by the end of the month... sigh... Gotta go back to work : ( Current Mood: cheerful

 | 09:00 am - Happy birthday to my Brother! My brother's birthday is tomorrow and since I have to work, I'm gonna wish him a wonderful one now! Happy Birthday Jason!
On a more stressful note, hubby is just waiting for some info from the mortgage company to find out when we need to vacate the house. We're thinking by the end of this month. I"m actually happy about it, because I hate living in this limbo, not knowing what's going to happen. At least now I can plan and get my act (better) together. Alex is almost done with school, I"m now full time at work and hubby is (thankfully!) the one dealing with all the drama with the house(s). He already has a house in mind and has talked to the rental agency already.
I have been putting off packing all my art stuff until I knew for sure when we have to leave. Unfortunately, I don't know when my stuff will ever be unpacked- although you know I will sneak stuff in/out until I'm covered in supplies again! Hopefully, I"ll be able to set up an area somewhere (garage?).
I"ve joined two workshops and now they are in limbo (sort of). The Alphabet-Discovery-Workshop is run by Trish Bee and is free to join! Go check it out!
I"ve also joined a workshop based on a book by Gwen Diehn, "The Journal Page". This one looks cool, but may be harder for me while I'm moving. I"ll get a link as soon as I can, so you can check it out.
I look forward to the change, but I'm also apprehensive at what's in store for us. Who wouldn't be? lol.... Current Mood: nervous

 | 04:30 pm - New Stuff I joined a group created by Trish Bee: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Alphabet-Discovery-Workshop/ It's a workshop based on the Alphabet. I've created a new journal just for the workshop:

The cover is batiked cotton and the lining is muslin.

I used a heavy, smooth paper that has a soft suede feel to it. I've been wanting to bind the pages for months, but kept putting it off.
I also did more stamps! One of my co-worker friends asked me to do a stamp of her three children. She didn't have any pictures of them together, so she gave me two photos to work with. I think the hardest part was getting the proportion right.

I know the stamp is pretty big, but I couldn't go smaller or I would've lost the detail of the baby's face and small things like fingernails. She also asked for a "No Jimmie" stamp. I made the third 'cuz she loves angels and I wanted to thank her for her patience (she asked a very long time ago and I had a hard time doing this). Here's a closer shot:

I also wanted to share a shot of some roses. I was given a pot of miniature roses and I had forgotten how many colors there were! Very beautiful!

 | 06:55 pm - Lia's Wedding shower... I just wanted to share a few pics of my children. My oldest, Lilia, is getting married July 18th. She had a wedding shower yesterday and, thankfully, the rain held off. I made some chicken katsu-took me four flippin' hours to cook too!-and got to the party kinda late. Which was okay, 'cuz I'm not much of a party person anyway. lol...
Let me show you the couple first:

The party was at a park. There was BBQ, family, friends and loud oldies playing in the background. I was almost the last person to arrive and when they saw the katsu, a swarm of people went over the pan and wiped it out! In minutes! ; ) Lia was telling everyone to be ready when I got there, so they could have a taste. I loved it... ; )
This is Alex (sporting his new "do") and his older sister, U'i. She's seven years older.

Then there's Lia and Alex. I tried all day to get a picture of the three together, but it didn't happen. Oh well.

I had a good time. It's gonna be an interesting wedding.... I'll get into it later. ; )

This was done with acrylics and highlighted with Twinkling H2O's. The sparkle really makes the painting I think. I wish I would've chosen a different color for the yellow flowers...

 | 05:18 pm - Hey! Sorry I've been gone forever.
Yesterday was my 24th anniversary! Hubby played hookie from work and took me for a ride. We drove to Sonora and Knights Ferry. Don't ask me where they are, I have no clue... ; )
Anyway, going through tiny Knights Ferry, hubby stopped suddenly in the middle of the street. I asked him "what's wrong?" and he pointed and said "Look!"

Obviously we pulled over to take a better look! Hubby walked up to the camel and petted it's nose. The zonkey sidled up to the fence and... ya? I said Zonkey... zebra and donkey! Crazy yeah?

Anyway, I got to pet the camel too... it liked having it's nose rubbed! That's all we were allowed to touch. The zonkey wasn't in as friendly a mood, but it let me take pictures of it before it wandered back to grazing. Here's a couple more pics:

As we were driving back home, we saw a BBQ place and pulled over for a bit of lunch. Doc's BBQ in Sonora! Woohoo! We ordered their tri-tip diablo sandwich... wow! It was sinfully delicious... grilled onion, mushroom and jalapeno, with cheese and a tiny bit of BBQ sauce.... I ate half of mine and gave the rest to hubby. He also ordered some ribs to go. Doc is a cool guy too, so I know we'll be going back in the near future!
When we got back to Modesto, we went seafood hunting... crab of course! The kids came over for a crab dinner and one of our dear friends popped in for a bite too. Good company, good laughs, good food... what more could we ask for? We had a wonderful day! Current Mood: happy

 | 09:25 pm - More time... Well, went to the doc's and was told to take more time. May 5th... She also gave me a prescription for therapy for my arm. woohoo...
I went to the PT's and he affirmed that the arm is just weak from using it the wrong way. He gave me a set of exercises to do (5 reps, 3 times a day) and will see me once to twice a week. I told him that I can't afford $60-$80 a week, so I have to talk to the hand PT and see if I can be cleared for the arm PT... sigh.....
This is such a headache... Current Mood: blah

 | 03:57 pm - Quick update... yeah, CB, for you... Went back to the therapist today. Still having pain in my arm and of course my hand aches. He said I just added more bruising to the hand/surgery area, but no real damage. Whew! Swelling is still present, so he massaged and iced and heated and exercised it. That was cool, but the arm is hurts!
He massaged my arm and had me do some simple exercises and told me that I have possibly three "entrapments" that are causing the pain. I'm thinking similar to pinched nerves, but he never called it that. I have a slight dislocation at the wrist (probably from the swelling), something going on around the elbow and something under the shoulder blade. The only time I had relief was when he supported my arm. I get a bit of relief holding my arm straight up...
Ugh... I see the surgeon on Monday for a follow up. The therapist is going to fax the info to the doc and request at least two more weeks. At least I know I'm not crazy (with the pain).
Happy Easter! Current Mood: still aggravated

I'm hanging my head in shame, but I couldn't help it! I had to carve this image! Isn't cool? The texture is so neat I had to see if I could capture it in a stamp. Of course, my arm and hand are killing me now, but I feel very satisfied... ha! LOL!

 | 11:26 am - After physical therapy... Ugh... therapist said that I am one that makes a lot of scar tissue. She said it was a good thing I am going, 'cuz if left alone, I would have some real problems. She showed me how to massage the hand (which I have to do 4-5 times a day) and told me to buy a vibrating massager and use 4-5 times a day. Got any ideas? I went to Target, but no luck. They only had the long handled pounder-type massagers. I also have to wrap some kind of rubber (that was molded to my hand) piece to my hand at bedtime. It's supposed to press on the scar to flatten it.
This lady was just a hand therapist. I will need to see another therapist for my shoulder/arm. This first lady did give me something for the pain though...
I have two appointments next week at $20 a pop...?!? Ugh... Current Mood: aggravated

 | 02:19 pm - A bit of collage I saw a cute challenge image on a blog (I wish I could remember where!!! ugh) of a little boy with a hat that says "misunderstood". Not sure what I was going to do with it, but I printed him out.
I ended up making a collage in my art journal.

He reminded me of a song by Pink, called "Mizunderstood". Here's a close up of the first half with the boy (he's in the upper left corner).

The words say, "it's not that complicated I'm just misunderstood" The other half:

Really colorful yeah? LOL! Current Mood: yikes!
